Jet2 reinforce Manchester base.
Jet2.com has announced a further four new routes from its Manchester base. In the wake of Ryanair announcing that it will discontinue all but one of its routes from MAN after failing to agree a deal on charges at MAN, Jet2 has stepped up its presence at the North-West gateway.
The budget carrier has announced a new 4x weekly service to Prague from Apr 01. With Czech Airlines having announced it will pull its MAN-PRG route recently, Jet2.com will only face competition on the route from bmi baby which itself operates a 4x weekly schedule. The skyteam carrier cited poor yields and the impact of the LCC market on its decision to pull MAN-PRG. The point to point strategy of Jet2.com will be better suited to current market conditions.
Having also announced Reus, Split and Dubrovnik, Jet2.com has responded to the Ryanair decision to open up a new base at Leeds Bradford Airport with significant investment in the Manchester and East Midlands market both airports owned by MAG.
Jet2 will face competition on Reus from Ryanair out of Liverpool LPL which offers a daily service, whilst fellow budget carrier easyJet offers services from Liverpool to Dubrovnik.
