Routes World 2026

More than 2,600 delegates are expected to gather for the 31st edition of the world’s leading route development event, bringing together aviation decision-makers to shape the future of global air connectivity.

Routes World 2026 officially opens today at Messe Frankfurt, bringing together the global route development community for three days of high-level discussions, strategic meetings and collaboration that will help define the future of the world’s air services.

With delegates from more than 120 countries, including representatives from over 240 carriers, expected to attend, the event provides a vital platform for airlines, airports and destinations to strengthen partnerships, unlock new commercial opportunities and accelerate global connectivity.

Taking place against a backdrop of economic pressures, evolving consumer demand, geopolitical uncertainty and environmental challenges, Routes World 2026 reinforces the importance of industry collaboration in navigating change and delivering sustainable growth.

Steven Small, Vice President, Air Transport Events, Informa, said: “Throughout its history, aviation has demonstrated extraordinary resilience. This resilience is underpinned by collaboration, shared ambition and the relationships that connect our industry. Routes World has been, and continues to be, the environment in which the global route development community can meet and build partnerships that define the world’s future air networks.”

Small added: “By bringing together the decision-makers responsible for developing global air services, we create opportunities that extend far beyond these three days, supporting economic development, enabling tourism and connecting communities around the world.”

Taking place in one of Europe's most internationally connected cities, Routes World 2026 is organised with the support of Fraport AG as Official Airport Partner and Frankfurt Tourismus+Congress GmbH as Official Destination Partner. As a major global aviation hub and international business centre, Frankfurt provides an ideal setting for the industry's route development community to come together and strengthen the relationships that underpin global connectivity.

Dr. Stefan Schulte, Chief Executive Officer, Fraport AG, said: “Frankfurt connects people, markets, and businesses like few other places in the world. Our central location in Europe and excellent transport links, along with the airport’s role as a key driver of economic growth and employment, make Frankfurt an ideal destination for Routes World 2026. We are delighted to welcome the international aviation community and to work together in shaping the future of air connectivity.”

“Frankfurt Airport connects Hesse with the world. For our businesses, international connections open doors to new markets. For thousands of people, they support secure jobs and create economic opportunities. But these connections cannot be taken for granted. Airlines need strong partners and the right conditions to establish and expand routes. Routes World brings the right people together to make that happen. As the home of Germany’s largest airport, Hesse has a strong interest in maintaining and strengthening these international links. A well-connected Hesse is a place where businesses can thrive and people can build their future,” said Kaweh Mansoori, Minister for Economic Affairs and Deputy Minister-President of Hesse.

A comprehensive conference programme will complement the event’s extensive face-to-face meeting opportunities, bringing together some of aviation’s most influential voices to examine the trends, challenges and opportunities shaping the industry’s future.

  • Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline
  • József Váradi, Chief Executive Officer, Wizz Air

Over the next three days, more than 8,500 meetings will provide a platform for airlines, airports and destinations to explore new air services, strengthen existing networks and identify opportunities for future growth. With more than half of the world’s new air services connected to discussions at Routes events, the outcomes of Routes World 2026 have the potential to influence air connectivity, tourism and economic development for years to come.

Routes World 2026 takes place at Messe Frankfurt, Germany, from 21–23 October 2026.
