The airport authority of Hong Kong (AAHK) commissioned the integrated airport center in January 2023. It combines seven previously separate operational centers as well as Cathay Pacific and 20 other stakeholders such as ground handlers.

A new landmark is the Sky Bridge that now links the satellite terminal with the main terminal. The structure allows aircraft the size of an Airbus A380 to pass through it.

AAHK is currently testing autonomous minibuses in the air side to ferry staff. AAHK has set up a dedicated 5G network across the airport to monitors these autonomous vehicles. There will be a total of eight autonomous minibuses undergoing tests in HKIA.

Using new contactless technology, HKIA opened its first uncrewed convenience store.

Part of the upgrades includes the full cleaning of the terminal ceiling, which was possible during the lull period across the pandemic.

All boarding gates are now upgraded with animated screens, as well as contactless facial recognition boarding gates.

To cater to high-net-worth passengers and expand its revenue stream, AAHK open a new VIP lounge.
