Junta de Aviación Civil (JAC), the Dominican Republic’s aviation regulator, detailed a number of new airline routes to the Caribbean country, including Paris Orly Airport (ORY) service.

JAC President José Ernesto Marte Piantini outlined the new routes during a JAC plenary session. France’s Air Caraïbes will begin operating 1X-weekly flights from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) to ORY on July 18. The service, which will include a stop in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on the ORY-to-PUJ leg, will operate on a seasonal basis through Sept. 5.

Starting July 17, the Dominican Republic’s Arajet will operate service to Medellin, Colombia, with a three-airport routing that will see the aircraft originating at Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and stop at Cibao International Airport (STI) in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, on both legs. The route will be operated 2X-weekly with a Boeing 737-8 through Jan. 18, 2024.

The Dominican Republic’s Sky High Aviation Service will open four routes to be operated once or twice weekly between Aug. 13 and Feb. 13, 2024. These include STI-Providence, Rhode Island; STI-Miami; STI-Panama City, Panama; and SDQ-Trinidad and Tobago.

Venezuela’s Turpial Airlines on July 16 launched service to PUJ from Valencia, Venezuela, operating the route 2X-weekly with a 737-400 through Jan. 7, 2024.

Marte Piantini says JAC is continuing “to identify routes and airlines” for the Dominican Republic.
