Delta and Virgin Blue launch codeshare

Skyteam carrier Delta Airlines has entered a codeshare agreement with non alligned Brisbane based carrier Virgin Blue. The recipricol arrangement will allow Delta Airlines passengers to connect onto Virgin Blue services in Sydney. DL currently operates a daily service to Sydney from its Los Angeles LAX base with B777 aircraft. From Sydney, DL passengers will be able to connect onto services to Melbourne and Brisbane. Virgin Blue operates 17 daily flights between Sydney and Brisbane with B737 aircraft and between Sydney and Melbourne, 24 weekly frequencies.

Virgin Blue operates short to medium haul services, however its long haul V Australia operates long haul daily scheduled service to LAX from Sydney, where its passengers will have the opportuntiy to connect onto selected DL markets.
