Singapore’s Changi Airports International (CAI) has signed an agreement to support the growth of Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) in Vietnam, which includes assisting with route development activities and managing the international terminal’s non-aeronautical businesses.

The deal, signed at the Singapore Airshow, will see CAI work to accelerate revenue growth of CRX’s Terminal 2 (T2) and enhance the passenger experience. The contract runs for an initial five years and can be extended for a further five.

CXR is the fourth busiest international airport in Vietnam, serving the city of Nha Trang and the Khanh Hoa province, an important tourist destination in the country. CAI has partnered with Legacy Infrastructure to undertake the contract.

“The successful model of management cooperation between CRTC [Cam Ranh International Joint Stock Company] and CAI will be the first of its kind that CAI implements in Vietnam, opening up great opportunities for both parties in the field of airport operations,” CRTC Chairman Johnathan Nguyen says.

CXR is served by 18 carriers, according to data provided by OAG Schedules Analyser, which collectively offer flights to four domestic and 20 international destinations at the present time. The airport’s busiest international route is to Seoul Incheon International Airport, which currently sees up to 13 flights per day.
