Boeing 787 Takes to the Skies

The Boeing 787 has completed its maiden flight at Boeing Field, Seattle. The flight lasted approximately 3 hours and touchdown at 1:35PST.

The first flight was due to be launched in the third quarter of 2007, hence the certification programme has now been delayed for over two years. Once certified the Boeing 787 will offer 20% fuel savings over the 767.

There are 56 airlines that have placed over 840 firm orders for the 787. ANA is the launch customer and is due to take delivery of the first aircraft late 2010.
