Alaska Airlines is adding daily flights to three more cities from Salt Lake City next summer, marking the latest in a series of route expansions. The carrier will begin flying non-stop from Salt Lake City to Boise, Idaho, and Las Vegas on June 16, 2014 and between Salt Lake City and San Francisco on June 18, 2014.
The carrier will offer one daily roundtrip each between Salt Lake City and Boise and San Francisco, and two daily roundtrips between Salt Lake and Las Vegas. Flights from Salt Lake City to San Francisco will connect with the airline's non-stop service to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
These additional services will complement Alaska's strong network on the West Coast and will add to the already announced flights from Salt Lake City to Portland, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose, which will also launch from June next year.
The US carrier made its debut in the Salt Lake City market in April this year when it introduced regular scheduled links to the Utah city from its main operational base at Seattle’s Tacoma International Airport. It will operate alongside Delta Air Lines on three routes, while Southwest Airlines also serves Las Vegas and United Airlines San Francisco via Salt Lake City.
According to MIDT data the estimated bi-directional O&D demand on each of these routes in 2012 was 116,000 between Salt Lake City and Boise, 378,000 between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas and 142,000 between Salt Lake City and San Francisco.
