Airline In Focus: WestJet

WestJet is a Canadian airline that began operations in 1996, initially offering low-cost service in Western Canada. 

Since then, it has grown into one of Canada’s largest carriers, serving more than 125 destinations across Canada, the U.S., Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. 

Onex Corporation acquired WestJet in December 2019 and the airline now operates as a privately held company.

WestJet acquired Sunwing Airlines and its tour operator division Sunwing Vacations in May 2023.

Westjet is one of the airlines registered to attend the Routes World 2026 event in Frankfurt, Germany.
