13,000 reasons to be more sociable

Routesonline is reflecting the recent trend that has was reported in the news yesterday about the influence of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

A report published by Experian Hitwise, called Getting to Grips with Social Media, says Facebook is the second biggest source of traffic to all websites after Google. Overall, social networks are sending nearly 13% more traffic to online retailers this year than last year.

These results also mirror Routesonline's impact on the route development community, as with current users approaching 13,000 and more than 1.4m pages views in August 2010, useage on the site has more than doubled in just 12 months. The implementation in April this year of the "Contacts" area of the site, the social networking area that allows the route development community to meet online all year round.

A few of the big numbers we deal with:

  • Approaching 13,000 registered users
  • Over 1.4 million page views in August 2010
  • Over 800 registered airports & over 400 registered airlines
  • Over 40,000 individual connections made
  • Over 500 repsonses to requests for proposals (RFP's) sent via Route Exchange
