April 18

UK leisure carrier Jet2.com has announced an expansion of its summer 2026 schedule from London Luton Airport (LTN), adding five new routes and increasing capacity across existing destinations. The airline will also base a third Airbus A321neo at the airport to support the growth. New routes launching include Corfu, Kos, Menorca, Preveza and Skiathos, with up to 50X-weekly departures during peak periods. Jet2.com will now offer 620,000 seats from LTN during the season, marking its second summer of operations from the airport.

Etihad Airways will double its flights between Abu Dhabi and Nairobi to 14X-weekly services starting Dec. 15, less than a year after resuming the route. Service will be onboard Airbus A320 aircraft. This expansion follows the recent addition of Addis Ababa, following the signing of a joint venture agreement with Ethiopian Airlines. Additionally, Etihad and Air Seychelles will collaborate on the six flights per week between Abu Dhabi and Mahe starting May 2025. Etihad customers will also have access to destinations such as Praslin and Mauritius via Air Seychelles’ routes beyond Mahe. As previously reported, Etihad is also launching new routes to El Alamein, Egypt, on July 17; Tunis, Tunisia, on Nov. 1; and Algiers, Algeria, on Nov. 7.

Discover Airlines has launched a new long-haul route from Munich Airport to Calgary, expanding its North American network. The service to Canada’s fourth-largest city will operate three times per week using Airbus A330 equipment.

Greater Bay Airlines has launched a new scheduled service between Hong Kong and Zhangjiajie, marking its fifth destination in mainland China. The new route will operate three times per week. The launch follows the addition of flights to Guilin, China. Zhangjiajie, located in northwest Hunan Province, is renowned for natural landmarks such as the Unesco-listed Wulingyuan Scenic Area and the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge.

Germany’s Condor plans to expand its operations from Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) during the winter 2025-26 season, increasing the number of weekly flights to 42. Starting Nov. 3, the airline will operate 2X-daily flights to Dubai (up from 1X- daily) and expand its Berlin–Frankfurt service to 3X-daily flights (up from two). Additionally, Condor will offer daily flights to Hurghada, Egypt.

Air France will launch a new nonstop service between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Phuket, Thailand, starting Nov. 27 for the winter 2025-26 season. The airline will operate up to three flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Return flights from Phuket will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Phuket becomes Air France’s 11th destination in Asia for the winter season, joining including Bangkok, Tokyo-Haneda and Shanghai. The schedule is subject to government approval.

Wizz Air will expand its network from Naples in winter 2025-26 with three new routes to Brașov, Romania; Chișinău, Moldova; and Tel Aviv. Flights to Brașov and Tel Aviv will operate three times per week, while Chișinău will be served four times per week. The airline will also make its route to Sharm El Sheikh a year-round service. The expansion will be supported by the addition of a second Airbus A321neo to the Naples base. “With these new routes and the addition of an Airbus A321neo aircraft to our Naples base, we will have 45 weekly flights from and to Campania, offering even more affordable travel options and creating new jobs,” says Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, corporate communications manager at Wizz Air.

LOT Polish Airlines has launched a new year-round route between Warsaw Chopin Airport and Malta International Airport, offering 4X-weekly flights. Service will be offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. “In January this year, tourists from Poland made up the largest group of European visitors to Malta—nearly 31,000,” Malta Tourism Authority CEO Carlo Micallef says. “According to the latest data, in February, the island was visited by even more Poles, 31,500, ranking second among European nations, second only to visitors from the UK.”

Oman Air will launch a new service between Muscat and Amsterdam starting July 1, marking the airline’s 11th European destination and its first nonstop link to the Netherlands. The route will operate four times per week using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. “As we continue to grow, we focus on destinations that not only align with our strategic goals but also offer long-term opportunities for tourism and business exchange,” Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis says. “Europe is our second-largest market in terms of revenue, and Amsterdam represents a key hub in the region for business and leisure travel. Moreover, the growing economic ties with Oman make it an ideal addition to our expanding European network.”

Mexican ULCC Viva will launch seven new U.S. routes from Mexico City’s Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU). Service to Los Angeles begins Nov. 1 and will operate four times per week. Additional routes include Chicago (3X-weekly from Nov. 13), Dallas-Fort Worth (4X-weekly from Nov. 21), Denver (2X-weekly from Nov. 20), Houston (3X-weekly from Nov. 20), Miami (4X-weekly from Nov. 21) and Orlando (3X-weekly from Nov. 20). With these new international routes, and the upcoming launch of domestic flights to Riviera Nayarit and La Paz, Viva will have a total of 38 routes operating from NLU by the end of 2025, compared with the 29 at the close of last year.

Greater Bay Airlines has launched a new scheduled service between Hong Kong and Guilin, expanding its network in mainland China. The new service will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Latvia’s airBaltic has filed for a blanket statement of authorization with the U.S. Transportation Department, seeking approval to display United Airlines’ UA code on flights it operates on a wet-lease basis for Air Dolomiti. The services would cover routes between points in the European Union and to third countries, under the U.S.-EU open skies agreement. The department has already granted approval for airBaltic to operate similar flights on behalf of other Lufthansa Group carriers, including Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and Swiss.

Aegean Airlines has launched a new service between Larnaka and Rome Fiumicino. The route will operate three times per week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays—throughout the summer 2025 season, with plans to continue into the winter.

Air Astana will launch a new route between Atyrau, Kazakhstan, and Baku, Azerbaijan, beginning May 31. The service will operate three times per week using Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, with a flight time of approximately 1 hr. 30 min. “The new route from Atyrau to Baku will complement the airline's existing flights from Almaty to Baku, which operate three times a week during the summer season,” s statement from the carrier says. “The network expansion will open up more opportunities for leisure and business trips between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.”

Transavia France has opened sales for its winter 2025-26 schedule, announcing 18 new international routes from six French airports. The LCC subsidiary of Air France-KLM is targeting winter sun destinations, launching service to Cape Verde, Egypt, Israel and Saudi Arabia. The schedule includes flights to Boa Vista, Praia and Sal in Cape Verde from Nantes, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux and Toulouse. Following strong demand to Jeddah, Transavia will also launch its first flights to Medina from Paris-Orly, Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse. Additional routes include Hurghada from Bordeaux and Tel Aviv from Marseille and Bordeaux. In Istanbul, service will expand to include Sabiha Gökçen Airport, complementing existing flights to Istanbul Airport. Overall, Transavia will increase capacity by more than 20% compared to last winter, operating up to 168 routes.

Edelweiss has launched a new route from Zurich to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Flights will be offered twice a week using Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline plans to offer the route until the end of the summer 2025 season.

Saudi LCC flynas will expand its summer 2025 network with five new international destinations and an additional route to Egypt. The new cities include Milan, Geneva, Krakow, Rize and Casablanca, bringing the airline’s seasonal offering to more than 20 destinations across Europe, Africa and Asia. On June 21, flynas will begin operating 4X-weekly flights between Jeddah and El Alamein, Egypt. Additional new routes launching in late June include flights from Riyadh to Rize, Turkey (4X-weekly from June 23), Geneva (3X-weekly from June 24), Milan Malpensa (3X-weekly from June 26) and Krakow (3X-weekly from June 27). Service from Jeddah to Rize will also commence on June 23, operating 4X-weekly.

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has inaugurated a new route between Copenhagen and Madrid, expanding its footprint in Southern Europe. The carrier will operate six weekly flights on the route using an Airbus A320neo, which seats 180 passengers. Iberia, Norwegian and Ryanair also serve the route, according to OAG Schedules Analyser data.

LATAM Airlines Group has announced a new international route connecting Florianópolis to Lima with flights set to begin on Dec. 2. The route will operate three times per week—on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The new service will shorten travel time between the two cities by up to 3 hr. compared to connecting via São Paulo. LATAM expects to carry up to 43,000 passengers per year on the new route.

Delta Air Lines is boosting service between Atlanta and Buenos Aires’s Ezeiza International Airport. Beginning Nov. 19, the carrier will add a second daily flight on the route, operating three times per week through Dec. 9, then daily through Jan. 18, 2026. The route will then return to 3X-weekly flights from Jan. 19 to March 28. The second frequency will be operated with the Boeing 767-400ER equipment.

Iberia launched flights between Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), resuming a route it operated during the 2024 northern hemisphere summer season. The service will be flown with an Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The MAD-IAD route will be operated 6X-weekly from April to August, up from 4X-weekly flights on last year’s summer schedule. In September and October, the route will be operated daily. Iberia already utilizes an A321XLR on flights between MAD and Boston Logan International Airport. 

Delta Air Lines launched service between New York LaGuardia Airport and Huntsville, Alabama. The route will be flown 5X-weekly with a CRJ-900 aircraft. “This is a huge add, especially for business travelers between New York and Huntsville,” Delta said.

UK carrier easyJet started flights between London Luton Airport and Tbilisi, Georgia. The route will be flown 2X-weekly on a seasonal basis on its summer schedule. The airline also opened service between London Gatwick Airport and the island of Sal in Cape Verde. Flights on that route will be operated 3X-weekly year-round.

ASL Airlines France will launch service next month between Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and the Greek island of Corfu. The route will be flown 1X-weekly on Sundays on a seasonal basis from May 18 through Sept. 7.

Lufthansa City Airlines took delivery of its eighth aircraft, a new A320neo delivered from Airbus’s Hamburg factory. The carrier, which operates out of Munich, said the new narrowbody will provide “an important contribution to strengthening the competitiveness of the short-haul network.” The Lufthansa Group regional subsidiary, which started service in 2024, said its network will comprise 17 airports for the summer season. This includes seven new additions on its summer schedule: Barcelona, Bordeaux, Düsseldorf, Edinburgh, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Rome Fiumicino and Seville. Lufthansa City Airlines’ new A320neo, outfitted with the Airbus Airspace cabin, is configured to carry 180 passengers. The airline noted the new aircraft’s cabin has “significantly larger overhead bins” than the three older A320neos already in its fleet. The airline also operates four A319 aircraft. Lufthansa City Airlines expects to take delivery of five more new A320neos in 2025, plus two used A320neos, expanding its fleet to 15 aircraft by the end of the year. The regional carrier expects to take delivery of the first of 40 A220-300s designated for its fleet in 2026.
