FARNBOROUGH—Ethiopian Airlines expects to announce orders for new freighters soon after the Farnborough Airshow.
Speaking with ATW July 20 while he attended the show, Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew said the plan was to finalize a deal for 16 freighters within the next couple of weeks.
At the IATA AGM in June, Tasew told ATW that his team was evaluating the Boeing 777-8F and the A350F, with a view to eight firm orders and four options.
Asked on Monday about the status of Ethiopian’s long-anticipated regional aircraft evaluation, Tasew said this would conclude within one or two months.
Ethiopian is seeking 25 regional aircraft, with the Airbus A220, Boeing 737 MAX and Embraer E2 in contention.
