Air Algerie has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-900 following a flight from Airbus’ facility in Toulouse to Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers.
The A330-900 will play a key role in Air Algerie's expansion plans from Algiers, enabling the launch of new transatlantic and Asian routes.
“For more than seven decades, the airline has built a proud legacy of connecting Africa, Europe and the Middle East, and is now looking confidently further into Asia and beyond as it expands its global reach,” says Omar Ali Adib, senior vice president for customers at Rolls-Royce, which supplies the aircraft's Trent 7000 engines. “The arrival of the A330neo marks a new chapter in this journey, one defined by efficiency, sustainability and ambition.”
Air Algerie has seven more A330neos to come after committing to the type with Airbus in June 2023. Aviation Week Network's Fleet Discovery database projects deliveries will complete in 2029.
