UK startup Straightline Aviation (SLA) has placed a letter of intent for up to 12 Lockheed Martin Hybrid Airships. The deal, the first for the new airship, is potentially worth up to $480 million.

Latin America will need 2,540 new passenger and freighter aircraft between 2015 and 2034 to meet long-term growth in the region, Airbus predicts in its latest Global Market Forecast (GMF).

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft celebrated with Ryukyu Air Commuter (RAC) of Okinawa, Japan as the airline unveiled two of its Q400 Cargo-Combi aircraft during a ceremony held at the Japan Transocean Air Maintenance Center at Naha Airport, Okinawa. RAC, the launch customer of the Q400 Cargo-Combi aircraft, is a member of Japan Airlines Group (JAL) and the Q400 aircraft unveiled are the first two of five ordered by the airline in the cargo-passenger combi configuration.

Boeing has forecast that Latin American airlines will need 3,050 new aircraft valued at $350 billion in the next two decades, tripling the region’s current fleet size.

Boeing said it is cutting about 4,000 jobs in its Commercial Airplanes unit through mid-year as part of a cost reduction campaign.
