GoJet Airlines took delivery of the first of 10 CRJ700s on order. It has 40 options as well. The carrier, an affiliate of Trans States Airlines, will operate the aircraft in the United Express program beginning Aug. 1. It is the first to be fitted with upgraded GE CF34-8C5B1s, a derated version of the CF34-8C5 powering the CRJ900.

Vietnam Airlines yesterday signed a firm agreement with Boeing to purchase four 787-8s at a signing ceremony in Washington. The deal was announced in December (ATWOnline, Jan. 4). The aircraft, valued at $500 million at list prices, are scheduled for delivery in 2009 and 2010. The agreement also includes purchase rights for 11 additional aircraft in the 2010-13 timeframe. Engine selection was not announced. The carrier plans to use the 787-8s to expand its route system and replace some existing aircraft.

Iberia took delivery of its 13th A321. The new aircraft, which is configured to carry between 186 and 194 passengers, will be used on domestic and European routes. Iberia now operates 80 A320 family aircraft.

Sierracin/Sylmar Corp. was selected by Mid-Western Aircraft Systems as the primary source for flightdeck windows on the 787. Mid-Western, formerly the Wichita division of Boeing, is providing the nose section of the 787.

China Eastern Airlines placed an order with Aviation Partners Boeing for six 737-700 blended winglet shipsets that will be installed between February and August 2006. Currently, China Eastern subsidiary Wuhan Airlines and China Eastern's Shanxi brand operate five blended winglet-equipped 737-800s.

Germanwings placed an order for 18 156-seat A319s and took options for 12 more, the carrier announced Friday, adding that the new aircraft are scheduled to arrive between 2006 and 2008.

Tampa Cargo said it notified Aeronavali and Cargo Aircraft Management of its firm commitment to be the launch operator of the 767-200SF. Tampa Cargo agreed to lease up to four 767-200SFs, with an unspecified number of options, from Cargo Aircraft Management after the passenger-to-freighter conversions of the aircraft are completed by Aeronavali. The first two are scheduled to be delivered in September and December.
