US Airways took delivery of two E-190s yesterday at a ceremony in Charlotte. They are scheduled to enter service Feb. 11 and will be based in Philadelphia. US has placed firm orders for 25 of the type.

Indonesia DG-Air Transport Ichsan Tatang yesterday backed away from previous reports that the pilots of the missing Adam Air 737-400 sent out two distress calls before the aircraft disappeared Jan. 1. As search efforts intensified (ATWOnline, Jan. 4), Tatang told reporters that signals from the plane's emergency beacon, which is supposed trigger automatically in the event of a crash, had been picked up on Jan.

GE Aviation said Air Mauritius ordered CF6-80E1 engines to power its two A330-200s on firm order plus one option and one purchase right. The engine order is valued at $60 million. "GE and Air Mauritius have developed a good relationship over the years as the carrier operated CF6-80C2 engines on its Boeing 767 fleet," GE Aviation VP-Sales Roger Seager said.

Tensolite Co. of Florida announced that it will supply specialty high-temperature airframe wire, data bus and fiberoptic cable for use in Labinal North America's wire harnesses to be installed on the 787. Tensolite's deal with Labinal extends through 2011.

AeroRepublica took delivery of its first 106-seat, GE CF34-powered E-190 on Dec. 22. It has firm orders for an additional seven and 20 options.

Jet Airways signed a purchase agreement for 10 787-8s "in order to maintain and expand the company's international operations. . .and to deploy the most modern and economically efficient aircraft," the airline said yesterday in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange. Jet expects to take delivery between July 2011 and December 2012. No engine choice was indicated. Boeing confirmed the order and said the aircraft are valued at more than $1.5 billion at list prices.

China Airlines is expected to order 10 747-8 Intercontinentals later this month, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily. CI denied the report but analysts suggest the airline will place the order, which will finalize a commitment made in mid-2006 but put on hold for political reasons. The aircraft will replace both 747-400s and A340-300s, insiders say.

Aviation Partners Boeing said Hainan Airlines has committed to install winglets on up to 55 737-800s (25 firm and 30 option) from this summer (ATWOnline, Sept. 15, 2006).
