Sukhoi Superjet 100 successfully completed a high-altitude test campaign in Armenia this week. Gyumri's Shirak Airport is 1,524 m. above sea level. Aircraft conducted single-engine takeoffs and missed approaches and "proved compliance with the certification requirements," Sukhoi said.

United Airlines will retire its final 737, a -300 on Oct. 28. It has operated 737s for more than 41 years, having placed the launch order for the 737-200 version in April 1965. According to an internal communication, the aircraft has been numbered UA737 for its final journey, which begins at Washington Dulles with stops at Chicago O'Hare, Denver and Los Angeles, then on to San Francisco where it will be decommissioned at UA's maintenance base before being transported to Victorville for storage.

CTT Systems announced that Jet2.com ordered seven Zonal Drying Systems for installation on its 737QCs. Magellan Aircraft Services will disassemble 10 CRJ100s and refurbish and remarket parts under a deal with Bombardier Services.

Lufthansa plans to exchange 45 of its 109 regional aircraft in the coming years, Passenger Airlines CEO Christoph Franz said in the staff magazine Lufthanseat. An LH spokesperson confirmed to ATWOnline that 50- and 70-seat aircraft like the CRJ200s and ATRs operated by Eurowings and CityLine will be replaced by 118-seat E-190s. "The smaller aircraft are not economical enough anymore compared to more modern aircraft in the 70/90-seat segment," the spokesperson said.

Honeywell signed a $65 million contract with China Southern Airlines to provide 131-9A APUs, along with materials, parts and service, for 192 aircraft (36 existing A320s, 71 existing 737s, 20 ordered A320s and 65 ordered 737s).

Contact Air F100 that landed wheels-up at Stuttgart Monday had a faulty valve, according to MD Manfred Gaertner. "Part of a valve came loose internally and blocked a hydraulic line. It worked like a stopper," he told Bloomberg News. None of the 73 passengers and five crew was injured (ATWOnline, Sept. 15).

Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of one 737-800 from CIT Aerospace. Aircraft is powered by CFM56-7B27s and seats 154 passengers in two classes. ET now operates 10 767-300ERs, eight 757-200s, two 757-260Fs, two 747Fs, two MD-11Fs, five 737-700s, two 737-800s and five F50s.

Embraer announced the delivery of its 600th E-Jet, an E-175, to LOT Polish Airlines. The first E-Jet was delivered in March 2004. LOT's aircraft seats 82 passengers. It currently flies 10 E-170s, six E-175s and six ERJ-145s. It ordered an additional 12 E-175s, plus two options and 10 purchase rights, in January 2008.
