The US must invest in research and development (R&D) of technology to take the global lead in aerospace during the second century of flight, according to Boeing EVP Jim Albaugh in a National Aerospace Week address.

GE Capital Aviation Services has signed agreements to lease nine Airbus A319 aircraft to Allegiant Air to expand the carrier’s fleet. All nine aircraft are powered with CFM56-5B engines. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in November; the remaining aircraft will be delivered through 2015.

Belavia Belarusian Airlines (B2) will take delivery of its first Embraer E-175 next week. The aircraft is the first of two-aircraft deal announced at the Singapore Air Show in February.
