Air Zimbabwe takes delivery of leased A320s in confidence booster
The first of two leased A320 aircraft has been delivered to Air Zimbabwe.
A second is currently in South Africa undergoing safety inspections.
Zimbabwe’s transport and infrastructure minister Obert Mpofu said the plane would assist the national airline to improve its route network.
“I am happy to advise the travelling public that the A320 will soon be doing double daily flights from Harare to Johannesburg and also plying the Bulawayo-Johannesburg route,” he said.
Last week the Zimbabwe government agreed to underwrite the $295 million debt on the national carrier’s books.
Mpofu said that this gives the airline a new boost and would be good for Zimbabwe’s tourism and for general confidence in the airline.
