Air Madagascar officially removed from the Annexe B of the EU safety list
The Safety Commission (ACS) of EASA based in Brussels officially notified Air Madagascar of this decision.
It comes after good results of the on-site assessment carried out in March 2016 and corrective actions taken but also continuous efforts and technical expertise deployed by the entire staff of the company since it was put on Annexe B in 2011.
In this 55th year of the company, a new era and new prospects are opening up for Air Madagascar, which will enable it to face its future challenges. A reduction in operational losses due to the overhead costs generated over the years will be the first positive and substantial impact of this decision. The development of commercial agreements and the establishment of new routes will also be facilitated.
This decision therefore comes at a time when the progress made in the implementation of the recovery plan is palpable, particularly the measures taken to cut down costs and improve revenues, to optimise its fleet and improve the performance of flight schedules.
The State has also agreed to that Air Madagascar starts looking for strategic partners in view of opening up the company's capital to ensure its development and competitiveness.
