Airbus and IBM are working together on an initiative called Airbus Smarter Fleet Solutions (ASFS) to integrate and further develop Airbus’ portfolio of software products and provide tailored fleet data management using an open, modular and flexible platform.

A J Walter Aviation (AJW) has been selected by Southern Air Inc. of Kentucky to provide power-by-the-hour support for its fleet of four Boeing 747 and four 777s.

US low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines has signed a four-year contract with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) to overhaul thrust reversers on 28 Airbus A319s, A320s and A321s, with options for additional aircraft. LHT already supports APUs and components for Spirit’s fleet.

Two long-established Boeing-approved paint companies serving the airline market have merged with the acquisition of Spokane, Washington state-based Associated Painters Inc. by Leading Edge Aviation Services, Inc., based in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Taleris, a joint venture formed in December by GE Aviation and management consultants Accenture to provide predictive analytical services to airlines, has opened its headquarters in Irving, Texas.
