Paris Airshow: Qatar lands a B777-200LR but will Airbus land orders?

A Qatar Airways' Boeing 777-200LR (Long Range) landed at Paris-Le Bourget Airport today for the 49th International Paris Air Show amid speculation that the Doha airline could be making major announcements this week.

Qatar Airways will have the B777 airplane on static display during the show, showcasing its 5-star interiors, reliability, operating efficiencies, and payload and range capabilities.

The airline's chief executive Akbar Al Baker is expected in town tomorrow and is likely to be making additional fleet announcements.

There has been a lot of speculation over Qatar announcing a deal with Bombardier for the C-series regional jet but Airbus is most likely to be using the most ink with the Middle Eastern operators this week, according to analysts.

However analyst Saj Ahmad says that delays to the A350 programme could lead to additional 777 orders.

The Qatar 777 is one of five Boeing airplane models to be on display during the biannual aerospace exhibition.
