Jack Stevens Sets Course For A New Era Of Aerospace At BAE Systems

BAE Systems

There were two proving grounds that played a significant role in shaping Jack Steven’s career: the U.S. Navy and the operations floor at BAE Systems. Both environments demanded discipline, precision, and teamwork under pressure, and instilled in him the importance of clarity and accountability for success. These experiences helped influence his leadership style, which is built on a foundation of candor. “Honesty isn’t optional, It’s the foundation of trust,” said Stevens. “Transparency across an organization while setting clear expectations empowers teams to deliver their best.”

Now, as the new Vice President and General Manager of Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) at BAE Systems, Stevens is bringing that leadership style to one of the most dynamic periods the industry has ever faced. Aerospace is in the midst of a sweeping change, and Stevens is energized by the chance to guide his organization through it. “The next few years will set the course for decades to come,” he says. For him, this isn’t just about managing the present but about positioning his team for the future.

That future is already unfolding. Electrification is reshaping aviation. Combat aircraft are evolving to meet new global challenges. Military sustainment is undergoing transformation. The commercial aftermarket industry is also redefining how fleets are maintained and optimized. Stevens sees these shifts not as isolated changes, but as part of a larger movement that will rewrite the industry’s story. In his role, he is determined to ensure his team plays a central role in shaping that narrative.

But he is equally clear: vision without execution is just a conversation. Operational excellence must always be our foundation. “We earn the right to shape the future by delivering today,” he says. “If we don’t meet our commitments – quality, cost, schedule, and performance - we lose the trust required to lead what comes next. Execution is our credibility. Innovation is our legacy. We must do both.” This mindset defines his leadership: head up to see the horizon, head down to deliver what’s in front of you.

Stevens' approach further prioritizes people and is driven by a core philosophy: “Together we will grow, innovate, and win.” He believes that no strategy or technology can succeed with out the commitment and creativity of the people behind it. That’s why Stevens sets clear expectations while creating an environment where individuals are encouraged – and expected – to take care of themselves and pursue their passions outside of work. For Stevens, bringing your best self to the job begins with being your best self at home.

It’s a philosophy he lives by each day. Based in Endicott, New York, Stevens prioritizes family time and recharges on weekends in Long Island, where he lives with his wife and twin daughters. Away from the office, he finds balance in the things that bring him joy, like golfing and enjoying the outdoors.

“Personal pursuits keep me energized and grounded,” he says. “It reinforces the balance that I also want my team to create in their lives.”

Stevens remains confident his mix of military discipline, operational expertise, and human-centered leadership positions him uniquely for the challenges ahead.

As the new leader of CAS, Stevens embodies the future of aerospace leadership - bold, transparent, and forward-thinking. He believes success begins with understanding the customer and putting their mission at the center of every decision. He is clear about the challenges, confident about the opportunities, and committed to shaping the industry’s future with his team at the center of it all.

Because for Jack Stevens, the sky isn’t the limit – it’s just the starting point.
