Iran's Air Force to display operational aircraft

Iran's Army Air Force will display a number of different types of operational aircraft in an air show next week, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Wednesday

Seyed Mohammad Alawi, a commander of Iran's Army's Air Force for Operations, was quoted as saying: "In case of good weather conditions and flight safety, tens of fighters and bombers, raptors, logistic aircrafts and tankers, including F5, Saeqeh (Thunderbolt), Mig 29, F7, Sukhoi 24, F4, Airborne Warning aircrafts, C130, Boeing 707 and 747 and P3F will precisely display their power and might."

The show will be staged during military parades which are scheduled for September 22, at the beginning of the country's Week of Holy Defense, marking Iranian sacrifices during the eight years of the Iraq -Iran war in the 1980s.

The parades and the air show will be conducted in cooperation with all air bases throughout the country and young pilots who have accomplished their training courses inside Iran will participate in the air show, Alawi was quoted as saying.

In June, Iran's Air Force commander Brigadier General Hassan Shahsafi announced that Iran has successfully tested a home-made radar-evading unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with bombing capabilities.

Earlier in the month, Iran conducted a four-day airforce exercise - designated Milad-e-Noure-Velayat - which was carried out in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
