IATA Aviation Day Africa
IATA has announced the theme of September's Aviation Day Africa conference will be aviation safety, infrastructure and capacity building, and routes to unlocking Africa's potential.
Africa’s economic growth is inextricably tied to the dynamism of its air transport industry. In addition to the direct and indirect jobs created by the aviation industry, the promotion of trade within and outside Africa are part of the numerous benefits of aviation that should be harnessed by the African continent.
Vital to the development and growth of the aviation industry in Africa is the issue of safety, which remains African aviation’s biggest challenge; government leaders in Africa have committed to the “Africa Safety Strategic Improvement Plan and Targets – Abuja Declaration” by 2015.
The event is expected to attract over 300 delegates representing airlines, air navigation service providers, international and regional organisations, airports, government agencies, aviation suppliers and aircraft manufacturers from the region and beyond.
The director general and CEO of IATA, Tony Tyler will address the event and use this opportunity to listen to challenges, concerns and contribution of participants.
The event will take place on September 17 and 18 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, Nigeria.
