Two initiatives have been unveiled in Europe and the UK to help advance the use of hydrogen to decarbonize aviation. 

Regional carrier Mokulele Airlines has been named the launch partner in Hawaii for Regent’s 12-passenger Viceroy seaglider, an electric wing-in-ground-effect transport for dock-to-dock overwater routes. 

A German startup plans to demonstrate the weight-saving structural integration of a battery system into a wing as the first step toward developing a nine-passenger all-electric regional airliner with a range of 270 nm.

The flight, which marked the first time Roc had flown at altitudes required for effective launch trajectories of Stratolaunch’s Talon-A hypersonic test vehicle, lasted just over three hours.

Tier 1 Engineering has begun flying its electric Robinson R44 helicopter with the 350-kW MagniX magni350 electric propulsion unit planned for the production conversion.

The U.S. Air Force now expects to make a production decision on the MH-139 Grey Wolf helicopter in January 2023, a total slip of about 16 months.
