Electra, Surf Air Mobility Complete First Public Demos Of Ultra Short Aircraft

Electra, Surf Air Mobility and Virginia Tech announced the completion of its first series of public demonstrations for its hybrid-electric Ultra Short aircraft. According to Electra, the demos highlight technology that will eventually be used in the company’s flagship EL9 Ultra Short aircraft, which is expected to begin commercial service in 2029. The demonstrations were conducted at Virginia Tech, using a combination of blown lift and hybrid-electric propulsion.
