Virgin Australia Regional Airlines

The Virgin Australia Group has begun taking delivery of the Embraer E190-2s that will eventually replace its Fokker 100 regional jets.

Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA) is pressing ahead with plans for the introduction of its fleet of new Embraer E190 E2s in October.

Virgin Australia has selected Embraer’s E190-E2 for fleet replacement and growth in its regional and charter subsidiary Virgin Australia Regional Airlines.

While Virgin does not specify which aircraft types it is considering, they are believed to be Airbus A220-100s or Embraer E190-E2s, according to a VARA memo.

The airline is dropping nine domestic routes and one international service.

Virgin Australia’s domestic expansion, the addition of Beirut to Swiss’ network, and Volotea’s tender win in Sardinia are among the latest route announcements and services resuming.
