SKY Perfect JSAT is looking to get into the low-Earth-orbit remote-sensing business through a $230 million investment and partnership with Planet Labs.

Planet Labs says it has secured a $230 million contract to build Pelican high-resolution satellites for an unnamed customer and announced a data provision deal with the European Space Agency (ESA) to support the Copernicus program.

Shaky business models have nowhere to hide in public markets, while several stronger space startups are finding a way forward.

The company signed a contract with the NATO Communications and Information Agency to bolster the Allied Persistent Surveillance from Space initiative.
