U.S. and European defense suppliers are supporting the development of Poland’s air defense system and the development of future missiles to support it.
A notice to industry released by the UK Defense Ministry says it wants to focus on developing laser weapons for both maritime and ground-based air defense.
The initiative now requires specific technology that excludes certain hardware that is important to some NATO members that have not signed up for it yet.
Signed during a summit on European air defense, the agreement sees Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, France and Hungary buy MBDA Mistral surface-to-air missiles.
