Israel has opened a new airport in the Red Sea resort of Eilat as it seeks to drive tourism to the region and grow its international air links.

Dutch low-cost airline Transavia will increase capacity by more than 123,000 seats this winter, as well as adding four new routes.

Israel Airport Authority is close to completing one of the country’s most significant infrastructure projects and one of Europe’s few green field airports to be opened since the turn of the millennium.
