The Colombian government finalized a deal for 17 Saab F-39E/F Gripens, adding a fourth operator for the latest version of the fighter which is built in both Sweden and Brazil.

Thailand has formally become the second export customer for Saab’s Gripen E/F combat aircraft after contracts were signed for four aircraft.

A 15-year campaign by Swedish fighter manufacturer Saab to score a sale in Colombia finally paid off, paving the way for potential new sales for the Gripen E/F.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced the selection of Saab Gripen E/F fighters late on April 2.
