The British Airline Pilots Association has elected the first woman to its general secretary leadership position in the union’s 86-year history.

BALPA said it has seen “increased recruitment” at UK and European airlines, creating jobs for both experienced pilots and pilot-career newcomers.

The long-haul LCC startup is planning to open a trio of routes from Norway’s capital.

The move follows the airline’s decision to scrap plans for a low-cost subsidiary at the UK airport.

After it emerged that British Airways is planning the launch of a subsidiary to run short-haul routes out of London Gatwick from next summer, Routes looks at the carrier’s operations from the UK airport pre-pandemic and the latest schedules filed for 2022.
