The U.S. Army is narrowing the field as it seeks a replacement for the Airbus UH-72 Lakota helicopters currently used for rotary-wing training at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
The U.S. Army set a five-month deadline starting from June 3 for companies to submit bids to replace the UH-72 as the primary trainer for helicopter pilots.
The announcement makes Airbus the first of four companies to identify themselves as participants in Phase 1 of the Aerial Logistics Connector (ALC) program.
