BOMBARDIER revealed the University of Victoria Centre for Aerospace Research (CfAR) and British Columbia’s Quaternion Aerospace as initial academic partners in its EcoJet blended wing body (BWB) business jet study project.
The TP-R90, a recuperative turboprop designed for light aircraft, ran on gaseous hydrogen; Turbotech and Safran will switch to liquid hydrogen later this year.

TEXTRON AVIATION earned $193m on $1.5b revenues in 4Q23 vs $170m on $1.6b in 4Q22; and $649m on $5.4b in 2023 vs $560m on $5.1b in '22. It delivered 578 aircraft (178 jets/146 commercial turboprops) vs 631 (168/153) in '22.
GENERAL DYNAMICS AEROSPACE earned $449m on $2.7b sales in 4Q23 ($20.5b backlog) vs $337m on $2.5b in 4Q22; and $1.2b on $8.6b sales in 2023 vs $1.1b on $8.6b in 2022. GULFSTREAM delivered 111 business jets vs 120 a year ago.
Textron Aviation delivered 168 business jets during 2023, down from 178 a year ago, with projections for deliveries to increase in 2024, company officials say.
In a move to increase production capacity, Pilatus announced its plans to assume 230 employees and machinery from RUAG Aerostructures Schweiz AG in Switzerland.
