Pilots at Canada's Air Transat have formally launched contract negotiations, aiming to broker a deal on par with their counterparts at Air Canada and WestJet.
CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES began daily Shanghai-Hong Kong with a C919, then plans to begin C919 service to Beijing Capital on January 21. It plans by early February to offer 260 flights/42,400 seats per week (1.4% of schedule) with C919.
DAE agreed to acquire NORDIC AVIATION CAPITAL, adding 252 owned/committed assets to increase its fleet to 750 owned, managed and committed aircraft valued at US$22b on lease to 170 airlines; terms of deal were not disclosed.
MESA AIRLINES agreed to sell 18 E175s to United Airlines for $229.1m ($142.4m to pay off associated debt) and lease them back; first eight closed in 2024. It also sold 15 CRJ900 airframes to an unidentified party for $19m.
AERCAP launched public offering of $1.5b in senior unsecured notes to finance aircraft acquisitions and repay debt; Citigroup, Deutsche Bank Securities, Barclays, Credit Agricole CIB and TD Securities are joint book-running managers.
