VoltAero and Kawasaki Motors have revealed new details about plans to power later versions of the Cassio hybrid-electric aircraft with a hydrogen-fueled version of its newly developed supercharged aero piston engine family.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) is set to be the prime contractor for Japan’s hydrogen project, with an engine demonstrator currently in the assembly phase.
VoltAero's Cassio 330 features a 330 kW electric-parallel hybrid propulsion system built around a Kawasaki piston engine, with an electric motor from Safran.
