Sikorsky and subsidiary Schweitzer Aircraft opened a completion center for military helicopters at Elmira/Corning Regional Airport in New York. HAWK WORKS, the new 100,000 square foot facility, will serve as the primary completion center for all Black Hawk and Naval Hawk derivative aircraft.

Olympus NDT introduced its BondMaster 1000e+ Composite Inspection Instrument, designed to detect internal defects or delaminations in composite structures used for aerospace, marine, automotive or manufacturing applications. The BondMaster 1000e+ is designed to offer strong data processing capabilities for a more than tenfold increase in inspection speed over Olympus NDT's previous models. The portable inspection tool also incorporates sonic pitch-catch, mechanical impedance analysis and resonance technologies.
Aitech Defense Systems' Rugged Computer Systems offers a new line of small form factor VME slot enclosures. The E192 is a two-slot, 3U CompactPCI powered enclosure, designed for harsh mechanical, climactic, chemical and electrical stresses. The E192's enclosure houses standard ANSI/IEEE 30.1-2002 conduction cooled 3U Compact PCI and PMC modules. The chassis' baseplate also is conduction cooled, which should allow dissipation of over 50 W at 71 degrees C (160 degrees F) while maintaining a maximum 14 degree C (25.2 degree F) difference at the card edge.
ATLANTA -- Petters Aviation is launching a corporate jet center at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport that will focus on the Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) family, including providing maintenance services. Petters, with six Airbus A318 Elites on order, is the largest U.S. customer in North America for the ACJ family.
Royal Jordanian renewed its 2006 contract with Air France Industries for component and engine support for its four A340s in a new, three-year contract. Royal Jordanian simultaneously renewed component and engine support agreements with AFI for two A321s for 12 months. Component support includes per flight-hour repairs, access to the spares pool and creating a main base kit, while engine support contracts are on a time-and-materials basis, plus per-flight-hour access to the engine and engine accessories spares pool.
Over the next 13 years, thousands of aircraft will be retrofitted with equipment that paves the way for the next generation air traffic control system under a proposal the Federal Aviation Administration released last month. FAA in October issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that would require installation of certain Advanced Dependant Surveillance -- Broadcast (ADS-B) equipment on all aircraft flying above 10,000 feet mean sea level or in certain terminal airspace.

Associated Air Center also delivered an Airbus Corporate Jet custom interior to China Sonangol, received STC approval to install Rockwell Collins Tailwind 550 satellite television systems on Airbus Corporate Jets and delivered its 16 th BBJ.

Aeroterm signed a sale-leaseback arrangement with Cascade Aerospace for the 20-year lease of a 231,000-square-foot hangar and office facility at Abbotsford International Airport in Canada. Under terms of the agreement, the facility will continue to serve as Cascade's corporate headquarters and base of operations.

The University of Tennessee College of Business Administration added two directors in its aerospace program. Retired Air Force Col. James Cody returned to UT, where he received his B.S. in business, as the College of Business Administration's Aerospace/Defense Clearinghouse of Tennessee's new director, and Andy White, who retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel, now serves as the director of UT's Aerospace MBA program.

AeroTech Services has developed and now offers a wing modification for Boeing 737-200, -300, -400 and -500 series aircraft that is designed to reduce fuel burn and carbon dioxide emissions by up to four percent.
In a September Boeing 787 Dreamliner program update, Mike Bair, vice president and 787 program general manager at the time, commented on delays in the aircraft's production schedule. The Achilles' heel of its production problem seemed to be one of its smallest components: a shortage of fasteners, which certainly was not on the radar when Boeing started the production process, Bair said.
Kafko's Oil Eater Cleaner-Degreaser is designed to remove oil, grease, grime and dirt from maintenance facility floors by encapsulating them in a solution that should rinse off easily and leave no residue. Piaggio America selected Aero Precision Repair and Overhaul (A-PRO) to maintain its Piaggio P.180 Avanti II aircraft. A-PRO, a joint venture of Dassault Falcon Jet and Messier, will service the landing gear and other components of P.180 Avanti II aircraft.
BizJet announced The Maintenance Group joined its partnership network. The Maintenance Group, based in Atlanta, Ga., specializes in corporate aircraft maintenance and will provide ad hoc service to local operators.
