Embraer’s E195-E2 Profit Hunter has recently achieved another milestone – European Union Safety Agency (EASA) steep approach certification for London City Airport (LCY).

Following the path of the E190-E2 certified in 2021, the E195-E2, seating up to 146 passengers is now the largest jet operating at the airport and the most environmentally friendly.

Unlike most airports that have a 3.0 degree approach slope, London City, surrounded by tall buildings and with its short runway length (1,199 meters/3,394 feet) requires a 5.5 degree steep approach. Thanks to a special software upgrade and the press of a special Steep Approach switch button on the E2 flight deck, pilots can land at this challenging airport with ease.

As Arjan Meijer, President & CEO Embraer Commercial Aviation stated, "With the lowest noise and emissions in single-aisle, the E2 is an aircraft that is very well suited to flying in and out of city airports, enabling our airline partners to launch new routes, expand networks and enhance profitability".

The demand for connections to new markets from the heart of London is only set to grow, and the E2 offers a sustainable and efficient solution that will  accelerate opportunity for both airlines and their passengers.
