Air traffic controllers (ATC) and electronic security engineers in Greece have announced four-hour work stoppages for Oct. 7 and Oct. 8.

The Federation of Associations of Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (OSYPA HCAA) is also striking, Aegean Airlines said in a statement.

The Greece Air Traffic Controllers Association (EEEKE), which boasts 500 members, and the Union of Electrical Engineers for Air Traffic Safety (ENIMAEK) said the stoppages are in response to unpaid salaries as well as a new bill from the Ministry of Transport.

The strikes last from 8 a.m. until noon local time at all airports in Greece on both days, meaning no flights will take off or land during that time.

Athens-based Star Alliance member Aegean and its subsidiary Olympic Air announced several flights had been either canceled or rescheduled. Together the carriers are being forced to cancel eight domestic flights and six international flights, as well as rescheduling 39 international services and 80 domestic.
