The industrial consortium will be led by OHB Italia, which will be responsible for the mission and end-to-end system activities.
Thales Alenia Space says it has signed a contract with OHB to support development of the Prisma Second Generation Earth observation satellite.
The Italian Space Agency (ASI) selected OHB, through its Italian subsidiary, as the mission's prime contractor.
Thales Alenia Space said it will develop the Prisma-S platform based on its HE-R1000 system. The spacecraft will carry the Leonardo-built hyperspectral sensor, which ASI is providing as customer-furnished equipment.
Launch is planned for 2031.
