Southwest's Profit-Sharing Payment For 2001 Nearly Equals Amount Of Government Bailout

Southwest paid out $214.6 million in profit sharing to its 33,000 employees last year -- or more than $6,500 per employee. The total was nearly as much as the $235 million it received under the government's bailout package.
