Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) recently agreed with GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) on the conversion of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft into cargo configuration. GECAS will co-fund the supplemental type certificate (STC) development and join the program as a launch customer. The first B777-300ERSF aircraft is due for delivery to GECAS in 2022. IAI has committed to providing GECAS with 15 converted aircraft, with options for 15 more.  

According to Yosi Melamed, IAI EVP and general ganager of the Aviation Group, IAI’s collaboration with GECAS, which started over 20 years ago, has already resulted in more than 70 passenger-to-freight conversions of other aircraft types.
