SINGAPORE—Embraer spinoff Eve Air Mobility has signed an agreement with Singapore-based private aviation network company Yugo Global Industries to study the potential for urban air mobility and electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) flights in Southeast Asia.
The tie-up between Eve and Yugo will focus on the infrastructure requirements to support eVTOL operations, including regulations, the Brazilian manufacturer says. The companies will also “analyze service center and vertiport size and capabilities, ground handling, and other areas as needed.”
The eVTOL agreement follows a similar alliance announced at the Singapore Airshow between Philippines-based PhilJets—also a partner of Yugo—and German eVTOL manufacturer Lilium. And the development comes as Eve works to complete its first full-scale prototype for flight tests starting later this year. The first crewed flight is expected in 2025, and dual type certification with Brazilian regulator ANAC and the FAA is scheduled for 2026.
Eve is also displaying the five-seat eVTOL cabin mock-up at the Singapore Airshow for the first time, as part of a world tour that began in 2022 at the Farnborough International Airshow. Work on the initial nonconforming aircraft began in late 2023, after the company froze its design configuration over the summer and settled on a lift-plus-cruise design with eight fixed lift propellers and a pusher prop for cruise.
