World Fuel Services is working to lower carbon emissions in the aviation industry and plans to showcase those initiatives at NBAA-BACE.

The Miami-based company is to supply sustainable alternative fuel (SAF) to NBAA-related aircraft at Henderson Executive Airport during the show. World Fuel expects demand for 150,000 gal. of the sustainable fuel.

Since 2015, World Fuel Services has delivered more than 13.6 million gal. of sustainable aviation fuel to business and commercial aviation customers.

World Fuel is making sure its energy requirements at the Las Vegas Convention Center, along with all of its transportation and hotel accommodations for staff, will come from sustainable sources or be covered by carbon offsets arranged by Kinect Energy Group, a division of World Fuel Services.

The company’s activities will be carbon-neutral during the show, it said. Business aviation’s goal is to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2050.

“We’ve been at the forefront of sustainability and alternative fuels for the aviation industry,” said Mike Szczechowski, World Fuel Services senior vice president of business and general aviation “It all started with the supply of SAF.”

In January, World Fuel provided fuel for two large sustainable alternative fuel events. One took place at the Van Nuys, California, airport. A second event took place at Farnborough Airport in the UK ahead of the European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition in May.

Kinect Energy Group provides a variety of sustainability offerings, such as solar project sourcing, renewable energy certificates and carbon credits, and emissions tracking.
