Upcycled Aviation Furniture At ap&m Europe

Stu-Art Aviation Furniture focuses on upcycling and putting things to better use. Abbott says he used to have to source aircraft parts from various companies, but now that his furniture’s popularity has grown, companies are coming to him because they find it difficult to get rid of some aircraft parts.

According to Abbott, he will buy any type of aircraft part and will make any piece of custom furniture a customer requests. Abbott says some of Stu-Art Aviation Furniture’s most popular furniture items are chairs, window clocks and galley carts.

Abbott says galley carts are a “blank canvas,” which he has turned into everything from wine and beer racks to stereo and file cabinets.

This G-AXEL wing section was originally from an aircraft that was involved in an accident in the 1960’s. It was acquired by the Royal Air Force and used as a training aide before Abbott got his hands on the piece and turned it into a conference table.

This table, created from a Panavia Tornado fighter jet engine intake, is Abbott’s newest creation and making its debut at ap&m Europe.

Abbott says pricing on his furniture items can run anywhere from 40 pounds (around $53) for smaller items to around 5,500 pounds (around $7,292) for larger pieces.
