Heston MRO has added broader non-destructive capabilities through the acquisition of Melbourne-based Aviation NDT Services.
The independent maintenance provider confirmed the acquisition on Thursday (Feb. 8). Aviation NDT has operated since 1986 from Melbourne Airport and focuses on NDT and inspection services for commercial and general aviation customers in Australia, the Pacific Islands and Asia region.
Asta Zirlyte, CEO at Heston MRO, says it will aim to integrate the two businesses as one Heston MRO NDT unit soon and will to expand its offerings the commercial aviation market. “We see solid growth potential to provide services to the larger national and international airlines and defense customers in the region’,” she adds.
Later this year, the company also plans to obtain CASA Part 145 regulatory approval from Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority. The approval for Rating D services will help establish a training ground for NDT career development for staff.
Since being established in 2019 after rebranding from Aircraft Maintenance Services Australia, Heston MRO has grown its network in Australia to encompass seven line stations. Heston also provides specialized engine services, aircraft parking and storage, components, materials and logistics and technical training.
Last year, it expanded into heavy maintenance for regional aircraft after agreeing to buy a facility in Cairns. The hangar was formerly occupied by Jet Aviation.
