Semmco Releases New Wheel And Tire-Focused Product Line

Used for supplying low-pressure nitrogen to inflate aircraft tires or high-pressure nitrogen to inflate the struts, Semmco's SMART nitrogen trolley promises to be easier to maneuver than a typical flatbed trolley. The company's first nitrogen trolley product was launched in 2015, but this new version improves on the existing range by including automatic inflation facility. The trolley features a lightweight, compact design that can carry up to three nitrogen cylinders at a 90-degree angle thanks to a pivoted mechanism. The angled position reduces the chance of manual handling injuries, since the cylinders do not need to be moved from a vertical position to a horizontal position for transportation.

The new version of the trolley is fitted with a digital panel that allows operators to pre-set PSI pressure to ensure the correct amount of nitrogen is always supplied. Inflation begins automatically at the touch of a button, which Semmco says makes the inflation process quicker, simpler and safer. The digital panels only require calibration every three years compared to the yearly calibration required on competitive products. The panels are solar powered, but also feature a mains charging point for backup if required.

Semmco’s latest digital innovations for tire inflation and pressure checking provide electronic readings with a calibrated accuracy of +/-2psi. Users can choose to receive readings in either bar or psi, and the SMART Charge features a 350psi safety relief valve to prevent over-inflation of aircraft tires. Both products include a range of tire valve connectors for compatibility with all aircraft in an operator’s fleet.

The SMART Charge and SMART Check are unique because they are the only digital products of their kind on the market to incorporate a backlight. Traditionally, inflating an aircraft requires a headlamp since the process is often done in the dark, which can cause work interruptions due to quickly draining battery power. The SMART Charge and SMART Check feature a battery powered back light, which displays a backlit digital screen that is held for 30 seconds once the tools are disconnected from the tire valve. Semmco says this makes the process quicker, easier and more accurate. The products have a two-year battery life and require yearly calibration.

Semmco's Wheel Mover is designed to move all sizes of aircraft wheels safely, efficiently and securely. Semmco says the product is extremely maneuverable and easy to use. Safety features include a dead man's handle that automatically engages the brake when the handle bar is released as well as adjustable webbing restraints, which secure wheels to the frame so they cannot move during transportation.
