Global Regulatory Update, Feb. 11-17, 2018

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 18-018 for Tay 611-8Cs, amending the time limit manual, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

 

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2016-0167R1, requiring inspection and repair of Zodiac rear cabin attendant seats, effective February 2, 2018.

 

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-0023 for the A320 family, requiring inspection of main landing gear fixed fairing assemblies, effective February 9, 2018.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-0034 for A330s and A340s, amending time limits and maintenance checks for safe life airworthiness limitations items part 1, effective February 19, 2018.

 

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-0036 for A350-941s, requiring modification of Interfay sealant in hybrid joints of fuselage and stabilizers, effective February 21, 2018.

 

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-0037 for A350-941s, requiring inspection of trimmable horizontal stabilizer fittings and bearing assembly attachment interface, effective February 21, 2018.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 18-014 for the A320 family, requiring inspection, repair and modification of side box beam flange in frame 43 area, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

 

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 18-015 for certain A321s, requiring inspection of wing rib 5 to rear spar attachment, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

 

EASA has issued safety information bulletin 2018-04, regarding environmentally assisted cracking in certain aluminum alloys.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 18-017 for the A320 family, requiring inspection for crew oxygen pipe corrosion, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

 

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-0038 for A320-214s, A320-251Ns and A320-271Ns, requiring inspection of cargo fire extinguishing bottles, effective February 21, 2018.

 

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 18-019 for Anjou Aeronautique restraint systems rotary buckle sub assembly, requiring removal from service, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 18-016 for A330s, requiring implementations of time limits and maintenance checks for airworthiness limitations section part 2, damage tolerant airworthiness limitation items, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

 

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 18-020 for Tay 650-15s and Tay 651-54s, requiring identification and replacement of low-pressure compressor fan blades, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

FAA has issued special airworthiness information bulletin HQ-18-09 to publicize awareness of an approved alternative method of compliance with all FAA airworthiness directives and previously approved alternative methods that mandate the application of Alodine to aircraft, engines and propellers. Henkel Bonderite products can be used instead of Henkel Alodine products.

 

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-02-18 for certain A318s, A319s, and A320s and A321-111s, -112s, -131s, -211s, -212s, -213s, -231s and -232s, requiring revising the airplane flight manual to provide guidance to the flight crew for emergency procedures when erroneous airspeed indications are displayed on the back-up speed scale, effective February 21, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-03-07 for certain A330-202s, -203s, -223s and -243s and A340-211s, -212s, -311s and -313s, requiring contacting FAA to obtain instructions for addressing the unsafe condition of these products, effective February 22, 2018.

 

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-03-06 for all A330-201s, -202s, -203s, -301s, -302s and -303s, requiring contacting FAA to obtain instructions for addressing the unsafe condition of these products, effective February 22, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-03-09 for certain A321-211s and -231s, requiring contacting FAA to obtain instructions for addressing the unsafe condition of these products, effective February 22, 2018.

 

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-03-08 for certain A330-301s, -321s, -322s, -341s, and -342s and A340-200s and A340-300s, requiring contacting FAA to obtain instructions for addressing the unsafe condition of these products, effective February 22, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-02-17 for all A330-200s, A330-200 Freighters, A330-300s, A340-200s and A340-300s, required repetitive inspections of the outer skin rivets of the cargo doors, repair if necessary and other repetitive inspections and adding a one-time inspection and adjustment of certain hook gaps, reinforcement of the door frame structure, related investigative and corrective actions if necessary, and a modification to allow deferring reinforcement of the cargo door structure, effective March 16, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-02-20 for certain 777-200s, -200LRs, -300s and -300ERs, requiring a one-time review of the operator's maintenance procedures, repetitive detailed internal and external inspections for corrosion or cracking and applicable on-condition actions, effective March 16, 2018.

 

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-03-04 for Rosemount Aerospace Model 851AK pitot probes that were repaired by CSI Aerospace between January 2013 and July 2014, requiring inspecting the airplane to determine the number of affected pitot probes installed and replacing the affected pitot probes, effective March 16, 2018.
