FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-25-18 for all ATR42s and 72s, requires repetitive detailed inspections of affected main landing gear U-joints for cracks and replacement if necessary, and provides an optional terminating action for the repetitive inspections, effective January 22, 2019.
